The Highline, NYC

Finally, I own a Paula Scher Map! (okay, a poster.)

The High line is located in NYC and was built in the 1930's as a means to elevate freight traffic and create safer streets in Manhattan. It was used for approximately 50 years and became a historical structure which was under threat of demolition in the late 90's. A group of individuals gathered with aim to preserve the High Line by transforming it into a park.

Paula Scher was the designer of the High Line logo in addition to several others graphics for the park. I've always been attracted to her design work so owning the poster was a must.

Inspiration Found.

Today I visited the Boat Show at the Indiana State Fairground with Megan and my in-laws because my father-in-law is looking at replacing their current speedboat with a larger one. He informed me that the worst place to buy a boat is at a boat show, so we spent the day critically observing potential boats. There were some incredible boats–some completely tricked out while others were very simple. I've never had the urge to save up to buy a boat...(since my in-laws have a fantastic boat and every water-sport toy you could have)...but today, that changed.

Off along the side were some antique boats. The most beautifully crafted boats I've ever seen. They were simple boats. They were 2 passenger, wooden boats with a classic interior. Such an aesthetically pleasing boat. My in-laws plan to move south and build a lake house, so if they'll build a second dock, I may infact contribute a beautiful Chris-Craft Cobra. Time to start saving...

Southern Shores. Outerbanks 2008

Home: Counterpoint
Realty: Corolla Classic Vacations

Favorite elements of home: Porches. You could sit on the back porch and view the beach or sit on the front porch and view the ocean that touches inland N. Carolina. Southern Shores is a very thin strip of land and not built up (...yet). It might become the next Pine Island but the housing market really hurt the obx so it may be a while before it reaches that potential. If you're in the market to purchase an ocean front house, I highly recommend this area.

As you can tell, Meg endured last years vacation. Since the trip to Pine Island, Meg had studied in Italy which was enough for me to realize I didn't want her leaving again. I proposed the weekend she flew back to the states so this trip to the obx we had our engagement photos taken.

Here are some photos from the online tour. For more photos, click here.
